It’s almost summer! Seeing as you’re not going to wear those frumpy winter clothes forever, this means it’s time to start planning your wardrobe! To assist you with some ideas that won’t cost an arm and a leg, here’s a list of essential summertime clothing for men.
1. Don’t Neglect the Importance of the Polo Shirt
Having a couple solid-colored Polo shirts on hand is never a bad idea. They look good with dress pants, jeans, and shorts. Additionally, they can be tucked in or out, or worn with a blazer.
2. Casual T-Shirts are Never a Bad Idea
Casual t-shirts are an excellent choice, and a great way to keep your options open. They can build on what you are already wearing or work on their own. When shopping for tops, consider a variety of color choices. Having a few casual tops in a neutral color means you will have several different shirts that will look good with almost anything. Also be aware of the wide selection of different cuts available. Or, if neutral isn’t your thing, you could also check out shirts with printed graphics (maybe this is the time to go for That’s Too Much Bacon Said No One Ever shirt you’ve been wanting)–don’t be afraid to experiment and get a feel for what best suits you.
3. Let’s Mention the Obvious: Sunglasses
It is summertime, sunglasses are essential. Can you imagine navigating throughout the day with the sun constantly in your eyes? Yeah, it would not be pretty. Thankfully, like every other item mentioned so far, sunglasses come in a wide variety of shapes and sizes, so finding the perfect pair is possible, but could also be overwhelming. The best advice is to find something that looks stylish and can comfortably fit your face in a variety of situations. Even better, purchase two pairs–that way you can have even more fun mixing and matching with your wardrobe.
4. Khaki Shorts
You wouldn’t want to spend your summer without this essential–that is unless you plan on parading around in your underwear or retreating to somewhere much colder. Khaki shorts look great with an array of different styles, including everything mentioned above, and can be worn to a variety of different functions, whether they are playful or professional. The ideal pair of khaki shorts will line up just above your knee (no more than 2-3 inches).
A few more words on shorts: your shorts don’t extend down far enough, if they are too far above your knees, they are no longer shorts. These are high-cut pants and should be avoided at all costs. In a fitting pair of shorts, your knees should be visible when standing.
